Haleigh's Carnival Birthday Party

My best friends daughter is turning five on Monday so to celebrate she had a carnival themed party!  It was so much fun and I am so thankful the weather was nice.  Maybe a little too hot at times, after all, it was close to 90 degrees yesterday and us Washingtonians just aren't use to that kind of weather.

So, anyway, the carnival party was a big hit!  There was funnel cake, corn dogs, cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, and many other snacks.  They also have several carnival games, including Plinko, on a much smaller scale to The Price is Right, Bean Bag Toss, Knock the Cans over, and several other games!  The kids got tickets for each game they played and at the end could trade those tickets in for different prizes!  Kayden really had a ton of fun and was super good considering he only had about a 45 minute nap!  My friend, Heather, also hired a balloon artist and face painter.  The face painter did an amazing job!  Super cute.  I couldn't convince Kayden to get his face painted.  Oh well.

Haleigh, the birthday girl, has gotten to know and has played a lot with my niece, Ashlie, so Haleigh invited Ashlie too.  Ashlie had a ton of fun.  It isn't too often that she gets the chance to be around so many kids her own age!

The party was a huge hit!  Everyone had such a wonderful time.  Heather is planning on having a mini carnival every year for the kids.  Something for us to look forward to!

Kids Craft Day at Ben Franklin

I took Charlie and Kayden to Ben Franklin's Kids Craft Day.  Katie, Ashlie and my sister and parents went.  It was fun, but I think maybe a little too advanced of projects for Kayden.  He didn't participate much, but rather had fun running around the sidewalk and playing with papa!

It's hard to see, but charlie made a husky dog, it blends in with the garbage bag attached to the pole.  :(  Wish I would have noticed that before I got home.

It was a great time and the girls had a ton of fun.  Maybe next year Kayden will be more into it.

Kids Day at Steel Lake Park

A week or so ago a friend of mine invited me and Kayden to the Kids Day Event at Steel Lake Park with her and her son, Blake.  Every year the community center puts it together and there are a lot of fun things for the kids to do. They have several different vendors there and many of them have free arts and crafts, or a pool of bubbles the kids can play with or a sandbox.

In addition to meeting up with my friend and her son, we also ran into Kayden's Gymnastics coach and her two boys.  Since she was working one of the booths, I invited her two boys (pictured below with Kayden) to join us. The blond haired boy in the bottom picture is my friends son, Blake. 

After the train ride the boys wanted to go to the giant inflatable slide!  I wasn't sure Kayden would go down by himself, but he climbed the ladder all the way to the top by himself and happily went down.  I was so proud of him.

After going down the inflatable slide a few times we went to look at some more booths.  One booth had a carnival theme and a ton of different games to play.  Here are Blake and Kayden playing with the rubber ducks and the bucket of water, not sure what the game was involving the ducks, but the boys sure had fun playing with the ducks and in the water.

 

We had a great time at Steel Lake Park and hope to go again next year!
