The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies Ever

The other day I was craving something sweet so I pulled out my trusty, but somewhat dusty, recipe box.  I began searching for a dessert that didn't require going to the store for ingredients (I really dislike going to the store).  Finally, after about half way through my one inch think stack of dessert recipes I came across this recipe.  The name of the recipe was intriguing enough to give them a try, so I did.

Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Cookies!

I thought these deserved some attention, so I gave it a whirl.  The bad part was, I was on the phone when I started this recipe and didn't realize it said to COMBINE ingredients in order listed.  Instead I just dumped all but the flour and choco chips into the bowl then had a really difficult time mixing it all together.  So, just learn from my mistake and mix after each ingredient!  Also, if you have a Kitchen Aid mixer (which I do, but was too lazy to pull out) or something similar I highly recommend using it or you'll have a hard time mixing in the last couple cups of flour and chocolate chips.  This recipe is SUPER thick, so if you think you did something wrong, you didn't.  It just really is that thick!

You're going to LOVE these chocolate chip cookies, and be forewarned, they make A LOT!  I was able to get about three dozen and still had enough to freeze two more batches, so enjoy some frozen cookie dough later!

These chocolate chip cookies are so ooey and gooey, almost have a cake like consistency to them.  They are delish!  Yum.

If you guys make them let me know what you think!

Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Cookies

2C Brown Sugar
2C Sugar
1C Vegetable Oil
8 oz (1C) Sour Cream
4 Large Eggs
2 Tablespoons Baking Soda
1 Teaspoon Salt
6C Flour
12 oz chocolate Chips (although, I think next time I'll use two full bags)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Combine (there's that key word again!) ingredients in order listed and mix well until dough is smooth and chocolate chips are evenly distributed through mixture.  Drop by tablespoon onto lightly greased cookie sheet.  My mom tells me that my Grandma used to say it was a sad cookie that didn't grease the sheet itself, but these are not sad cookies at all.  They are amazing!

Bake for 15 min.

You will find these absolutely yummy!

Snow & Ice Storm

We have had some major weather in this neck of the woods lately. It started off with a little bit of snow, then after a couple days of a little snow we got a lot of snow. Some areas around here got 12+ inches. We woke up to about 5 or so inches on Tuesday. And if that wasn't enough to shut our world down, we got an ice storm Wednesday night that completely shut our universe down. Our airport shut down for a while, they couldn't keep the runways free from ice and by the time they got the planes de-iced, they would ice up again. It was a struggle to get airplanes in from other places and there were no planes going out. There have been travelers stuck at the airport and in local hotels for several days.

Yesterday late morning our power went out and in some neighboring cities their power has been out for days. We were fortunate enough to have our power come back on sometime during the night. Thankfully, Cindy and Jim let us camp out at their house and we slept in front of the fire to stay warm. It was nice and toasty.

It is amazing to see all the trees down around our neighborhood and on the news. As far as I know, no one has been seriously injured from the ice or down trees, so we are all thankful for that. Kyle and Jim went out this morning and tried to get as much ice as possible off the branches and trees to help prevent anymore limbs from breaking and hitting a house or anything else. It has been a wild ride around here this week.

Almost all of the schools have closed this whole week. And there is more to come, according to the news. We are suppose to have a wind and rain storm the next couple days, so it might be a while before we can catch a break.

Here are some pictures off all the ice and snow.

This is our bamboo that he have in our backyard.  It seemed like every leaf had a cluster of ice on it.  It was weighed down so much by the ice that it just fell completely over.

Thanks to Dean and Christy we were able to have a delicious, warm meal last night.  Kayden saw Papa eating a leg so he wanted one too.

More Snow!

We woke up today to some more snow.  Not a ton more, but a new, light, covering, it looked so pretty.  So, I suited Kayden and myself up and went out to play.  We invited Charlie and Christy out to play too.  It was fun.  Since it wasn't snowing this time I was able to take my dslr camera out, instead of our point and shoot and was able to get some good shots.

We are having so much fun with the snow and they are predicting more tonight!  Lets hope it is enough to keep Kyle home tomorrow.

I usually dislike the snow, I don't like how cold it is, hate how the world shuts down, at least here in Seattle, and I dislike being cooped up in the house, but since having Kayden and having the luxury of staying home with him, I don't seem to mind it as much.  I love seeing how much fun he has when he is out there playing in it and I love seeing how pretty everything looks with snow on top of it.  Being able to stay home and enjoy the snow is so nice.

Ok, so here is the real reason you stopped by, right?

Kayden and Charlie had fun eating the snow.  All they were missing was the flavored syrups!

Snow!

We all woke up yesterday morning to some snow on the ground!  After breakfast we decided to go outside and play in it with Charlie.  Charlie couldn't wait to get out there and was the first one to get their hands in it.

Kayden really liked the snow and he did really well walking with his snow boots and snow gear on.  He wasn't happy about having to get it all on, but we forced it on him and once he got outside, he was fine.

Uncle Dean and Daddy pulled Charlie and Kayden in a sled and there was a snowball fight too.  The kids even played on the snow covered swing set.  It was fun.

Now on to the pictures...

As you can see in the pictures we didn't have much snow, but it doesn't take a lot for kids (and adults too) to have fun in it.  We all really enjoyed ourselves and had fun.  The weather folks are predicting more snow today and tonight, as well as tomorrow night, so we'll see how the rest of the week plays out.  Should be a lot of fun.

Mommy & Me Craft Class

The Ben Franklin in Bonney Lake started this new class called Mommy and Me Craft Class and it is intended for pre-school kids and younger to go and enjoy some crafting time with Mommy.  So, I took Kayden today with my mom, sister and niece, Ashlie and we all had a lot of fun.

The craft was so fun and totally do-able for young kids. Kayden did almost the whole things himself. He needed help with the hand print and applying the glue to the buttons, but everything else he did himself. He is becoming so independent and grown!
Take a look at his project.
