Family Pictures

The weekend before Kayden's seventh, YES, seventh! birthday we had family pictures done.  We went to this cute park in Bothell and the weather was awesome.  Kayden wasn't thrilled about getting pictures done, but in the end he cooperated enough to get some GREAT pictures!

I love these pictures so much.  Can't wait to get them printed and posted around the house!

Random Phone Pics

I'm having some issues with my cell phone and wanted to be sure to download all my pictures and videos in case it all of a sudden decides to up and completely stop working on me.  *Fingers crossed I didn't just jinx myself there!

Going through the pictures on my phone is one of my favorite things to do.  I enjoy going all the way back to the first pictures I took with it, and go through them slowly, and it helps me remember certain activities or outings we did that I may have forgotten.  More times than not, I put my phone down with a smile on my face remembering the fun things we had done and seeing how little Kayden was, even sometimes just as short as six months ago.  Because I don't know about you, but I don't often photograph the bad days, like one day last week when I had to leave the grocery store, without my groceries, because of one particular six year olds bad choices.  I can guarantee I didn't photograph that scenario!

Ok, so here are some of my favorites.  I usually start with the idea of only posting a handful, but can rarely narrow it down to more than a dozen, so we will see how many I can stop at today!

See, more than a handful!

Skateboarding

The neighbors gave Kayden a skateboard a few months ago, and he is pretty excited about it...me on the other hand....

And he has played on it here and there, but recently he's shown more interest in it and has been riding it a bit more.  And he's becoming better and better at it.

My camera died before I could get video of him standing up and riding the skateboard, maybe next time!

Science Experiment

For Christmas Kayden received a box with geodes in it that he could break open using a chisel and hammer.  The first rock we tried cracking open is still not open, however, after about three nights and several tools later we decided to try and open a different rock, since the first one was proving to be far too stubborn (it must have taken some tips from Kayden) and what do you know, it opened easy peasy lemon squeezy.  It was really neat to see all the crystals inside and watch how the light reflects off of them differently.

Kayden managed to cut most of my head out of the pictures he took.

It really was a fun project and we have a few more rocks to break open at some point.  Curious if those rocks will look the same inside or not!

Purple Belt Promotion

Back in December, before Christmas break, Kayden got promoted to a Purple belt in karate!  I love watching these ceremonies and am very proud of him for working so hard.  Since his belt ceremony he has been promoted to the Juniors class, from the Lil' Ninja's class and is loving it!  The class is a group of 7+ year olds, but since Kayden has been a Lil' Ninja for over a year and doing well at it they promoted him to the Junior's class early.  He is super excited about it and really loves it!
