Arts and Crafts

I had Charlie yesterday morning for a couple hours and because Kayden and Charlie were having a difficult time getting along lately I figured it would be a good day to get outside and do a craft project.  I was super excited about this one because I thought it would be fun for the kids.  Charlie ended up liking it, while Kayden wasn't so into it, which was fine, after all, he's two and having his attention on any one thing for an extended period of time is next to impossible!

So, here are some pictures of the kids.

Once the paint dried I removed the vinyl letters and it revealed their names.  Kayden's didn't turn out that well.  The paint was too thick so it flaked off when I removed the vinyl.  I will have to try and make another one for him using different paint.  Charlie's turned out cute, unfortunately though, I didn't get any pictures of the final project.  I will have to try and get one later.

A New Bike!

A friend of Kyle's told him about these new bikes that have come out called, Strider bikes.  The purpose of them is to teach kids how to balance before they actually learn how to ride a real two wheel bike, so if you look close you'll see that this bike has no pedals!  Kayden was so excited to get it.  When we were ordering it, he couldn't decide what color he wanted.  He kept switching between yellow, or lellow, and blue.  Kyle made the executive decision and went with blue.

When we got home from running some errands this morning the box was waiting for us.  Thankfully Kayden took the, "we'll have to wait until dad gets home" delay!  He was pretty excited for it too so I was happy when he didn't throw a fit because he wanted to open it.

Here are some pictures of Kayden riding his new bike.

And here are some pictures of Kayden when he got tired of riding his bike!  He wanted to go for a ride on the hand truck.  How fun!

Ocean Shores

Last weekend we went to Ocean Shores with some friends.  It was way too cold for us to spend too much time on the beach, but we were able to get out there and enjoy a little bit of time.  My niece, Katie went with us and she really had a good time.  There was another girl there, Angelina, that was about her age, so they stuck pretty close to each other and played.  They had fun taking care and entertaining the little ones.

It was so fun to watch the kids, they just have fun in whatever they are doing.  It didn't matter that it was freezing outside, they were just happy to be playing on the beach and in the sand.

Here are some pictures of Kayden.  Unfortunately I wasn't able to get too many because of the weather, we just weren't out there very long!  :(

The sand ate Kate's feet!

This was my favorite picture of Kayden from the weekend!

This is my favorite picture of Katie from the weekend!
And yes, that is very much a pony tail in Kayden's hair.  I was doing Katie's hair that morning and he decided he wanted a pony too, so I put one in and he left it that way all day!

Katie got super cold because while she was wave jumping one came up a little too forceful and knocked her on her behind!  Luckily I had a change of clothes, but she was pretty cold after that and had a difficult time warming up.

It was a nice weekend, wish the weather would have been nicer.  On Sunday, after lunch, the kids wanted to drive on the beach, so before heading out of town we drove on the beach for a minute.  It was so foggy out there you could barely see in front of you, so we didn't stay on the beach for long, it was rather dangerous!  We plan on going next year and hope that the weather is a bit warmer!

Dinner at the Beach

Kyle texted me earlier this afternoon and asked if I wanted to go to the Fish Bar at Redondo for dinner with the kids (we have Katie all week).  Anytime I can get out of cooking I happily agree, so once Kyle got home we packed the kids up and drove the 7 minutes to Redondo.  I love that the beach is so close, but I also wish it was a bit bigger!  It is a pretty small one, but usually works well for short amount of time that we go there!

Here is a picture of Katie and Kayden while we waited for our dinner.  Katie must be a good influence on Kayden because he actually looked and smiled for the camera!  That doesn't happen too often!

After dinner we headed over to the beach.  The tide was in pretty far so there wasn't much room to play, but you know kids, they make the best out of any and everything!

Kayden had fun throwing rocks in the water while Katie had fun jumping waves.  It was fun to see them both content as could be!

We had a relaxing, fun time at the beach and look forward to many more visits to Redondo!
