Fire Station

Last Thursday Kayden took a field trip with his preschool class to Fire Station 62.  Kayden had fun, but because he was starting to come down with, what turned out to be a horrible cold, he just wasn't too into it.  He enjoyed his time there, but just wasn't feeling well enough to really be involved.  I did, however, get some pictures, with or without his permission!

I didn't realize it at the time, but the fire truck above is from station 63, not sure why it was at station 62.

This is the only yellow fire truck in south King County.  They use to have all yellow trucks, but slowly, over the years have changed them to red ones.  The yellow truck has a ladder on it that can reach eight floors.

Emily's Birthday Party

Last weekend we attended Emily's birthday party at the Community Center and it was a ton of fun.  They had bounce houses, tons of different bikes and scooters, blocks and much more.  The kids had a blast and loved watching Sub Zero make ice cream.  Sub Zero is a local ice cream shop that makes ice cream right in front of you using nitrogen.  It scared some of the kids, while others were totally intrigued.

After ice cream, the kids ran around for a bit longer, then we headed over to Linzie's for pizza and more playing.

Kayden had a great time, didn't want to go home and slept so well that night!

Linzie made these adorable goodie bags polished off with each kids name.
This is how Kayden told me he had had enough of me taking pictures!

 It's the birthday girl!

Happy Birthday, Emily!  We had a great time.

Making Valentines Craft

The other day Kayden and I sat down and made Valentine crafts.  My idea was to cut out hearts and have him decorate them as he sees fit, however, it didn't exactly work out that way.  And that's ok.  Instead, he wanted to make pumpkins (which is what we did in Oct.), so I said, "why not?", so he made pumpkins while I made hearts.

And it all worked out just fine.  He did end up coming on my side with the hearts and gave up with the pumpkins, which was fun.  He really gets into this arts and crafts stuff.  He isn't really into sitting down and coloring from a coloring book, but you throw some scissors and glue in front of him and you have his attention all day!

So, here are pictures from our Valentine craft.

 Picking out orange....to make pumpkins.

He finally saw it my way and wanted to make hearts!
And one of his finished hearts!  After we finished the decorating we went around the house and placed them all over.  My idea was the hang them from the ceiling, but he wanted to place them all over, and that is A-OK.  So, Happy Valentines Day, All!

Emily's Birthday

A friend of ours just celebrated her fourth birthday, and they invited us to help them party-it-up, four year old style.  Which consisted of a bounce house and then running around at McDonald's Play Place, one of Kayden's favorite things to do.

Then we finished up the celebration with cupcakes at Emily's house.  It was a fun day and we are so glad Emily shared her birthday with us!

 The Birthday Girl

Even the adults got in on the fun.  You can just see the fun in Emily's face.

Somehow Shelley always gets tackled by the kids!

I tell ya, these three kids are becoming amazing friends.  Love watching them grow and learn together.

I didn't get any pictures at McDonald's, but rest assured they had fun!

Emily had her own version of a smash cake.  She was being silly and loving every minute of it.  Too cute, this girl!  Happy Birthday, Emily!

Slot Car Track

Kyle had a slot car track from when he was little and decided to put it together for him and Kayden to play.  After waiting a couple days for the new cars to arrive, they got started with the fun.  Kayden just loved it and loved being able to adjust the track to different configurations and seeing how fast the cars can go around the turns and bridges.

It was a fun Sunday watching these two have so much fun.

Nothing like a little Sunday morning slot car race in your underwear!
