Seal Beach

On our first, full day in San Diego we went to Seal Beach.  (Not sure if that is the real name of the beach or if Kyle made it up since the beach is littered with seals, but I'm going with it.)

Before we could make our way down to the dock to see the seals we stopped to smell the roses, ok, maybe just flowers.

And make a funny, stick-out-your-tongue, picture.

Oh, and play in the minimal sand piles they had at the top of the cliff.  Knowing full well, that there is all the sand in the world at the bottom of the cliff, aka the beach.

And finally, with many stops and much needed delays, we finally made it to see the seals.

And because one seal looks strikingly similar to the next seal, I will keep you from having to scroll through all 15 pictures I took of the seals and bring it back to the main attraction that is Kayden.

We braved the rock obstacles and made it down to the beach, and Kayden loved it.  He loved playing in the sand, finding seaweed and throwing it in the ocean and he loved being able to run around.

The weather was really windy and we actually got rained on after being there for a while, but that's ok.  We were on our way back to the car anyway and our trip to the beach was coming to an end, so the timing of the rain was rather perfect.  Can't say that about the rain we experienced at Legoland.  Hope to have that post tomorrow.

Asking daddy to run with him, see his arms in the picture above?  Those are his running arms.
And we'll end this post with a family picture.  Hope to have another post sometime tomorrow.

San Diego Part Two

On our trip we stopped by Uncle Robby and Uncle Jim's house for a little visit.  We haven't seen them in a over ten years and the visit was long over due.

This was Kayden, Uncle Robby and Uncle Jim's first time meeting Kayden and it was an instant connection.  Kayden warmed right up to them, which he doesn't generally do and he didn't skip a beat calling them Uncle Robby or Uncle Jim.  Way too cute.

We started the visit off by walking around their house and seeing the changes that have been made to it over the years.  They have had a couple different mud slides and you can see where different parts of the house was affected.

Uncle Robby shared stories about the different mud slides, animals, and spiders that they have had over the years.  We even saw a lizard outside their house.  It was neat and Kayden enjoyed seeing it.  Those little guys are fast!  A five or six foot gopher snake even showed up at their house while we were there.  It intimidated me and Uncle Jim, but Kayden loved seeing it.
Kayden had fun helping feed the turtles.  Turtles are one of Kayden's favorite things ever since we saw large ones at the Reptile Zoo a few months ago.  So it was neat for Kayden to be able to see some again.

Uncle Robby and Uncle Jim have different fruit trees and Kayden loved being able to pick the different fruits and even ate a lemon segment, which he loved.  Kayden has a high tolerance for sour things and he just happens to love lemons, so it was perfect.
Watching the turtles.
Wearing an Orange hat.

We had a great time at Uncle Robby and Uncle Jim's house.  It was great to catch up with them and visit for a bit.  Their house is a ton of fun.  Kayden was sure not to leave until he helped clean the pool out.  He enjoyed it so much that I am certain he would have done it for hours....if given the time.  Unfortunately, I didn't get a pic of that.  Maybe next time!
More San Diego posts to come later!

San Diego

We just got home from a eight night, nine day trip to San Diego, and it was tons of fun!

It started with us leaving on a plane Saturday morning.  Because our flight was so early, like 6:15 early, we convinced Kayden to sleep in his clothes the night before.  I was shocked at how easy it was to convince him considering he NEVER wears pajama's to bed anymore, just underwear and a white t-shirt, and occasionally his socks.  I guess, to a 3 year old, that sleeping in your jeans and t-shirts is a pretty cool thing to do.

Kayden was too cute.  When I woke him up Saturday morning at 4:30 he didn't really wake up.  I got him to the car before he realized what was going on and said, "Mamma, what are you doing to me?" as I put him in his car seat.  Poor, little guy was so confused.

So, we got to the airport, he was such a trooper.  Walked the whole way and was so excited to see all the big planes and he searched for a blue one.  All he wanted to do was find a blue plane, something he's been talking about for weeks.  It's currently his favorite color and, actually, his longest running favorite color.  So we, thankfully, found one and it happened to be the same one we were going to fly on.  Yahoo, since I was concerned he wouldn't board the plane if it was a different color.  Seems extreme, but it is true, good chance there would have been a fit if our plane was any other color.

Looking for a blue plane.

Waiting patiently for boarding.

We flew into Long Beach so we could meet up with Nana for a few hours before heading down to San Diego.  Kayden, Kyle and I got to meet the newest cousin to the family, Nixon.  He is five months old and Kayden was so happy to hold him.  I have known for a long time that Kayden loves babies, but he hasn't really had a chance to hold a little one until this trip.  And I had no idea how excited Kayden was to be able to hold a baby.  It was so stinkin' cute.  And I am grateful Nixon's parents, Hailey and Marty, were more than ok with Kayden being so interested in Nixon.  They did really well with Kayden's requests to hold him.  There was even a, "I feed the baby, Mama", when it was bottle time.  I loved seeing how interested Kayden was in caring for this little guy.  All too cute.
Don't let this face fool you, Kayden was thrilled to finally be holding Nixon.  He asked nicely and waited patiently while we positioned him on the couch and put pillows around him so that both, he and Nixon would be comfortable.  I just loved watching this side of Kayden.  So eager and excited to be taking care of this little one.  Just reminds me how much Kayden is always looking out for others.
If Nixon's cry would have broken glass, Kayden wouldn't have cared.  He would still be holding Nixon tightly, not wanting any of us to take the baby away.

We really enjoyed visiting with Nana and the rest of the family.  Kayden is getting to age where he remembers people.  We showed him pictures of Nana before we left and he recognized her and was excited to see her.  And since returning home, he talks about the lemons he picked at Nana's house.  We made lemonade with them, and they are truly the yummiest lemons!

More of our trip coming, just give me a few days!  Lots of pictures to go through.

Fun Trip to Fred Meyer

Today I took Kayden to Fred Meyer to get him some new flip flops for the upcoming summer. On the way to the register we walked by a display of sunglasses so I decided to stop to see if I could find me a new pair. While I was trying a few different pairs on, so was Kayden. He had a good ol' time trying different pairs on! Such a stylin dude!

The Seattle Aquarium

Last Thursday the weather here was gorgeous, and I didn't want to be cooped up in the house so Kayden and I decided to go to the Seattle Aquarium. And since my niece, Ashlie, didn't have school that day, we invited her to come with us.

The kids had a lot of fun. I enjoyed watching them interact and they enjoy each others company!

Build-A-Bear

Friday night we invited Charlie to spend the night. Then we got up Saturday morning and went to build a bear and lunch. Then we finished the afternoon with a fishing at the trout pond that one of the local sporting good stores puts on frequently!

Charlie loved her build-a-bear, Shasha, and Kayden loved his too, Tiger.

They both got a leopard, and it is pretty cute!

Mini Golf

We were invited to a friends birthday party yesterday and it was at an ice skating rink, which also had mini gold and arcade games. One of those arcade games was air hockey. Kayden loves playing it and was having such a good time. He refused to go ice skating, so thankfully they did have other things to do there!

Kayden loved playing mini golf with Austin. After the first few holes Kayden decided it was too much work starting at the beginning of each hole, so he just by passed all the obstacles and placed his ball about an inch from the hole! He was able to get many hole in ones that way! Too cute!

We hope everyone had a nice weekend and a good start to the week.
