Kayden's First Christmas

Kayden had an awesome first Christmas. Santa was nice to him and so were his grandparents, auntie's and uncles! It was a lot of fun. Can't wait for next year when he might understand the concept of opening gifts. If not next year, then definitely the following year. Kyle and I enjoyed our Christmas also. It was a lot of fun, we went to my parents house on Christmas Eve and had a lot of fun opening gifts and playing poker. I cashed out $19.00, almost the big winner of the night. My brother, Brandon, won the most with $23.00. Then on Christmas Day we went to Christy's house and had a good time there too. We had a nice dinner and then opened gifts. Once gifts were opened we played Catch Phrase, it's such a fun game, people really get into it. Have to say, the girls kicked the boys butt. :) Hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas and have a fun and safe New Year.

3 Months Old Today!

Hey there, hope everyone is doing well. Today is Kayden's three month birthday, it's hard to believe how big he's getting and how fast it goes. It's crazy to me and I don't look forward to how fast it will continue to go. I wish we could just freeze him and keep him three months old forever, he's at a really fun stage right now. He's discovering new things, some of his favorite things are to play on the floor and to suck on his fists. If I didn't know better I'd say his fists had some flavor or something. He's still doing really well with sleeping at night. He usually only gets up once, but I'm still working on getting him to sleep by himself. He doesn't like to sleep on his back and I'm too afraid to put him in the bassinet or his crib on his stomach, so I've been having him sleep with Kyle and me. It's a bad habit, but I'm just not ready to let him sleep on his stomach without some kind of supervision.
Kyle and I are really excited for Christmas this year, should be a lot of fun. Hope everyone is enjoying season and are staying warm!
Here are some pictures of Kayden taken today, on his three month birthday!

Picture with Santa

We took Kayden to see Santa on Wednesday. It was fun, Kayden showed no interest in Santa, but Santa sure liked Kayden. He told me how precious Kayden was, it was cute. I'm sure next year it will be more of a challenge to get Kayden on Santa's lap, but we'll deal with that when the time comes. Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season.

Cute Snowman!

Doesn't Kayden make the cutest snowman? Who can argue? :) Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season. We're still getting ready for Christmas. Haven't gotten all the Christmas decorations up yet, hopefully this weekend I'll finish with them. Hope everyone is having a good end of the year!

Getting So Big!

Kayden is getting so big, it's crazy! We went to the dr. last week and he's 12 lbs and 24 1/2 inches. He's smiling so much, especially in the mornings, he's very much a morning baby. He gets that trait from his Dad, definitely, not me! Anyone that knows me, knows I need a couple hours before I'm ready to chit chat and be happy! He's almost sleeping through the night. He gets up once between 5 and 6, I feed him and change him then it's back to bed until 8 or 9, so we really have a good sleeper on our hands. Now, if only I could get him to sleep on his own the nights would be that much more pleasant! One day, right? :) Here are some pictures of his beautiful smile and some of him taking a bath. He's not so sure about the whole bath thing yet. He doesn't cry, but he doesn't really like it either. It probably doesn't help that mom and dad are new at this and still learning which techniques work! One day we'll have it all figured out and then it will be time for him to bathe himself! :) Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season. Kyle and I are really looking forward to Christmas this year, we've got the lights up outside and will have the decorations inside up this week. It's going to be a lot of fun!

First Turkey Day!

Hi there, hope everyone had a great Turkey Day! Kyle and I enjoyed our time over at my parents house, we ate and played poker. We had a good time, even if we didn't do too well at poker. Here's a picture of Kayden getting his Thanksgiving Dinner, he sure did seem to enjoy it! Can't wait for next year when he can actually eat some of the food, I'm sure he's going to love it. Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving and are having a great weekend.

Two Months, Already!

Can you believe it, Kayden is already two months old, crazy how fast time goes by. Everyone tells you how fast they grow, but it's hard to believe how fast it really goes by until it happens to you! I've enjoyed every minute of being a mother and I know Kyle has just loved being a dad. He just can't wait for Kayden to get big enough to play with and chase around the house. I know Kyle is looking forward to being a big kid himself (and have an excuse to be!)and can't wait for Kayden to start engaging in "big boy" activities. I know I can wait for Kayden to grow up, I want him to stay little for as long as possible. I just love his innocence and all his sweetness. He's just so stinkin' handsome and although I can wait for him to grow up, I can't wait to see what kind of man he grows up to be. The pictures that accompany this post were taken on his 2 month birthday, last Friday! Hope everyone has a tasteful Turkey Day and check back soon as I'll post pictures of Kayden on his first Thanksgiving!

Kayden's New Favorite Thing

Besides playing with his new tongue, Kayden's new thing is to suck on his fist. It's very cute. Sometimes it relaxes him so much that he falls asleep, like in the picture. It's been so fun to watch him grow and develop new habits. I wonder what will be next...

Papa Boo's Visit

Kayden's Great Papa "Boo" Bruce visisted last weekend from California and we had a great time and lots of fun. It is Papa Boo's first great grandson and you could tell how proud he was. It's too bad we all don't live closer to each other, but I guess that's what makes these visits so special and enjoyable. Papa Boo and all the other family members are more than welcome to come and visit anytime. We really enjoy the time they spend up here with us.
Thanks to Papa, Kayden has officially played his first game of poker! How many 7 week olds can say that! :)

Happy Halloween!

Hey there, hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween. We sure did. We had a great time with Katie and Charlie. We started off the night visiting some family friends and of course the grandparents too. Once we finished up there we (my Mom, Christy, Dean, Charlie, Kyle, Katie, Kayden and me) went to the mall only to be a bit disappointed that most of the stores were out of candy. I think next year we'll go to the mall first and then make our rounds to all the family friends and relatives. Once we finished up with the mall we headed home to take the girls around the neighborhood. We had a good time! Hope you enjoyed your Halloween. Take care.

Too Funny - A Must Read!

So, funny story to share with everyone! It's going to make you laugh, I know it did me. Kyle and I had gone to get Kayden's pictures taken today and after we finished up with the pictures Kayden had fallen asleep and was still asleep when we got home. Once Kayden woke up it was time to feed him, so Kyle got Kayden out of his car seat and realized how hot he was so we took of his pants to help him cool off. We got a bottle ready and Kyle sat down to feed Kayden. All of a sudden Kayden starts straining and we all know what he was doing, not only did his face tell all, but it was juicy, I know, too much information, but I'm just trying to set the scene for you guys. So, anyway, back to the story, Kyle moved his hand away from Kaydens thigh and that is when Kyle realized Kayden had blown out of his diaper and pooped on his hand. It gets funnier, not only had Kayden pooped on Kyle's hand, he also pooped on Kyle's jean and on the couch. One thing you should know about Kyle and that is from the first time we found out I was pregnant Kyle's fully expressed how terrified of poopy diapers he is, so for Kayden to poop on him is just too funny. Kyle was so disgusted, which to be honest, most people would be, but the look on Kyle's face made you wish you had a camera in your hand to capture the moment! Awww, one funny story to share among many more to come!

Great Aunt Sissy & Great Grandma

We had Kayden's Great Aunt Sissy and Great Grandma Sally visit from Napa, CA for the last three days and we had an awesome time. Kayden loved all the attention he got from them and he loved having them here. It's too bad they don't live closer so they can visit more often.

Great News

I took Kayden to the dr. today for his follow up appointment and there's good news to share, he's finally gained some weight! He weighed in at 9 lbs 2 oz, crazy, isn't it? He put on about 20 ounces in 1 week. The dr. said, "how is that possible?", but somehow it is, because he did it! Finally, things are falling into place and we are now on the right track. We no longer need to wake him up every 3 hours to eat! Yahoo, no more setting the alarm to wake up in the middle of the night. Kyle and I are both looking forward to that. His next apt. will be for his 1 month apt and he'll be getting a shot poor guy.

Pumpkin Patch

Kayden had his first trip to the pumpkin patch this weekend. We had a lot of fun and I think he did too. We dressed him in his monkey costume and got some great pictures of him. He might hate us one day for it, but for now, it's way too cute!

Eating!!!

So, since our dr. apt. on Monday Kayden has been eating like crazy. He's been chowing down on the formula and can't seem to get enough of it, so hopefully at his dr. apt on Monday the scale will prove just how much he's been eating. I tell ya what, it's nice to be able to monitor how much he is actually eating. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that the scale will show at least 8 lbs on Monday. It's crazy to me that the little guy is two and a half weeks already. Everyone told me it would go fast, but it's crazy how fast it really goes! Hope all is well with everyone and I'll update you on Monday after our apt. Have a good weekend.

Follow Up Appointment

So we went to the dr. today and unfortunately, Kayden hasn't gained any weight, he's the same as last week, so the struggle for him to gain weight continues. The dr. wants me to start feeding him formula so we can monitor how much he is actually eating. We'll go back next Monday for another weight check, I'll update you again then. We also got the results from the ultrasound that was done on his kidneys and all is A-OK, no need to do anything more with that, so at least the dr. had some good news for us! Everyone take care and I'll be sure to update you next week on his progress!

Doctor Appointments

Hey there, guys, just wanted to update you on Kayden. He's doing well. We have an apt. tomorrow to make sure he is still gaining weight, so everyone keep their fingers crossed that he is still gaining.
On Friday we went to Children's hospital to get an ultrasound on his kidneys. I had a two vessel umbilical cord and a normal pregnancy has three, so the dr. wanted us to get an ultrasound done on his kidneys because kids with a two vessel cord often times have problems with their kidneys. The ultrasound tech wouldn't tell us anything except that he has two kidneys, so that is a good starting point. I'm hoping the dr. will have the ultrasound results tomorrow when I go in. I'll update you once we get the results. I tell ya what though, compared to so many of those kids at the hospital we saw, we sure are lucky and have no room for complaints with Kayden. He is very healthy and happy and we couldn't have asked for a better baby.

He's Here!!!

So, Kayden finally made an appearance on Sunday, Sept 20 after many hours of labor. We went in and were admitted to the hospital on Friday and finally delivered on Sunday at 12:01 pm. He weighed in at a whopping 8 lbs 9 oz and 20 inches long. It was a long couple days, but well worth it. On Tuesday we were able to leave the hospital and finally come home. After spending 5 days in the hospital it was nice to sleep in my own bed and shower in my own bathroom.
Kayden has been a ton of fun. He does the typical newborn schedule, sleeps all day and is up all night. Hopefully we'll be able to get that flip around and on a regular schedule soon. We took him to the dr. yesterday and he's doing well, they are concerned with his weight loss, so we are going to take him back in Saturday and Monday to see what is weight is, if he's lost anymore weight then we'll have to consider supplementing his feedings. I'll keep you posted on how the next two appointments go.
