Vashon Island

We have the privilege of living near several islands, and one of those islands is Vashon. It is a short ferry ride away and since the weather man was predicting such a nice sunny day Kyle and I decided to make a day of it and take Charlie and Kayden on the ferry over to the island to play on the beach and explore.  These pictures are of us on the ferry.

notice the tongue?
We had a great time.  Charlie was so excited for the ferry ride, she could hardly stand it.  She spent the night since we were going to be getting up early and the whole night she just kept repeating, "I'm so excited, I can't believe we are going to go on a ferry tomorrow".  She was super excited.

Once we got over to the island we went to the beach and had a few photo shoots.  The weather was so gorgeous, it was perfect for taking pictures.  And it was early enough in the day that the kids weren't tired of getting their pictures taken yet, or tired from just being busy, so we started off with that.

Notice the bulge in Kayden's cheek?  He kept a grape in his mouth for about an hour before spitting it out.

After we were done there we enjoyed some lunch by the water and then off to the wolf sanctuary.  Charlie loves wolves so we decided she would love that.  And they didn't only have wolves, they had a couple horses, some husky dogs (which charlie absolutely loves also), an owl and a hawk, a ton of sheep, and even some baby sheep.  It was a lot of fun.

Charlie got to feed the horse weeds.  Surprisingly, Kayden wasn't afraid of the horse.

Once we were finished at the wolf sanctuary we headed over to another beach and skipped rocks and scooped rocks into our buckets (our beaches around here are very rocky, we don't really have sand, just rocks).  Charlie went around looking for crabs, and Kayden was content playing with the rocks.

Charlie made a friend along the way.

Kayden was starting to get really tired so we packed up our stuff from the beach and headed for a drive.  Kayden and Charlie fell asleep so Kyle and I enjoyed our peaceful drive!  LOL  It was nice and relaxing.

After the drive we headed to a marina so we could walk on the beach.  We lucked out because they had a playground there too, so we let Charlie and Kayden run around a bit and play.  Eventually we made it over to the marina to look at the boats.

By this time it is 6:00 and we decided it was time to grab dinner and head home.

It was a very nice day, the weather was awesome and the kids were excellent.  We all had a nice time.  Here are some pictures of our ferry ride home.

See the tongue?
