Kayden's 8 Month Birthday!

Kayden turned 8 months today, it is crazy how big he is getting. I know I say that in every post, but really, it is difficult for me to grasp. It is just crazy how much he has developed and grown and there are still so many things for him to experience, it excites me. I love watching him explore and push himself to learn the next best thing. Some people think it won't be long before he walks, but I have a feeling it won't be soon, or maybe I'm just hoping! Kyle and I are still trying to adjust to him crawling. He is getting fast, which makes it difficult to leave the room because when you return you might not be able to find him where you left him. He loves trying to get the things he knows he isn't suppose to have and he can get sneaky about it. He waits for you to turn your back or leave the room, and bam, he is off. Some of his favorites are the tv remote, a phone, he isn't picky, he'll take the house phone or a cell phone. They are both fun after all, but no matter what it happens to be, it is absolutely more fun than his toys.
Well, I hope all is well with everyone, it is getting pretty late (late by a full time working moms standards), so I'd better head off to bed. Chat with you soon.

You're Never Going to Believe It!

I'll start with the most exciting news of all. I say that now because it is new and exciting for a parent to witness her child graduating to the next developmental stage, eventually, I am sure my opinion will change here in the next couple of days!
Kayden hit two milestones today! This evening I was preparing dinner and Kyle yelled at me to come watch Kayden, I glance over and see him crawling!!! That's right, crawling! I was so proud of him for finally accomplishing what he has been working so hard for the last couple weeks. He's been rocking back and forth, kind of moving his arms, but just couldn't figure out how to move his legs at the same time, until tonight. It is so exciting to witness these advancements, I just love it.
Then after dinner I went into his room to get him up from his nap and I walked into to see he had pulled himself up! Crazy, right? That is what Kyle and I thought. You could tell he was so proud of himself when I walked into his room, he was beaming from ear to ear, just wanting to shout, "look, mom, look what I can do!" It was very cute.
In addition to these milestones, we have also started introducing fruits and veggies. So far, Kayden loves peas, they are his favorite, but if you ask some, the peas have had some pretty weak competitors. He does not like green beans or pears. The first night we introduced green beans he ate two containers of them, which is equivalent to 5 oz. The next time we tried feeding them to him you would have thought we fed him something rotten! His first couple bites were his usual, the not so sure about this face, but then after about 3-4 bites he realized he doesn't like this stuff so much. He would take a bit, make the most adorable sour face and then start gagging, literally with tears in his eyes. It was pretty entertaining. I had to try one or two more bites to just make sure he didn't like them before throwing the container away. The dr's and magazines and whatnot recommend waiting a few days and trying the food he didn't like again. So, we did just that only to have the same result!
Then yesterday we tried pears, thinking he'd love them because they are sweat and all he has had at this point has been rice cereal, oatmeal, peas and green beans. So, we give him the first bite and he, again, makes his, I'm not so sure about this, face. Then after a couple bites he would shiver and make a funny sore face. Tried a couple more bites with no success, finally he just stopped opening his mouth all together and pretty much said, without saying it, forget you guys, you can't make me eat this stuff! Today we tried pears again, only to fail again. He wouldn't even open his mouth for the peas, thinking we were going to give him something else he doesn't like. Finally, I was able to get a few forced bites in him, where he then, recognized that these are peas and I like them. So, we finished off dinner with peas and a bottle! I hope as we introduce new foods, he doesn't dislike them all!!! Keep your fingers crossed for us!

Kayden is Pulling Himself Up!

For a couple weeks now Kayden has tried pulling himself up onto things, but just couldn't seem to really figure it out. Well, last night he succeeded! He pulled himself up on the foot stool in an effort to get the remote to the tv. Well, he did get himself up, but he did not get the remote! :0) I'll try to post some pictures this weekend, but it is a busy one, so if I don't, I apologize!

Sitting Up!

Kayden has been sitting up by himself for a while now, but in the last day or two he has been able to go from lying on his stomach to the sitting position all by himself. I got up with him last night and went into his room and he was sitting in his crib waiting for me. Too cute, although it would have been much cuter if it hadn't been 3:00 am! :) The only solid food Kayden has had since introducing solids last month has been rice cereal, but now we are starting to introduce veggies. Last night he has peas, he didn't seem to mind them, he wasn't so sure about them either though. We'll try them again tonight. I'll post pictures from last night sometime this week. Hope all is well with everyone.

Seven Months Yesterday

Kayden turned seven months yesterday! He's getting so big, he's rolling over, sitting up by himself, scooting all over the place and getting up on all fours and doing the rocking thing, the first and last step before crawling! It is amazing how fast he is growing and developing. He still only has his two bottom teeth, he's slobbering like crazy so I think his top teeth will be popping through soon, I've been saying that for a while now, eventually I'll be right! LOL
We recently started giving Kayden baths in the bath tub and no longer in the kitchen sink. Here is a picture of his first experience in the bath tub!
Kayden is also outgrowing his infant car seat and it about ready for the next size up, so there's also a picture of him trying it out for the first time! The next new thing that will be coming up is vegetables. We'll be trying those this weekend, so check back then to see his response to them!

Kayden's First Easter!

We hope everyone enjoyed their Easter, we sure did. We had Cindy, Jim, Aunt Donna, Christy, Dean and Charlie over and had a great time. We munched on food and chatted. Watched some videos of Kayden when he was a little guy (like he is that big and grown now!!!), and saw some pictures of Charlie when she was little! Charlie hunted for Easter eggs. The girl got rich off of him, I think she found over $10.00 in eggs!!! I knew I should have joined her in that hunt! :) Here are some pictures of our Easter, I hope everyone enjoyed theirs as much as we did ours.

Kayden's First Bite!

Sorry it has taken so long to post this, I was trying to upload the video of Kayden taking his first bite, but was having trouble figuring it out. So, instead, I have pictures.
Kayden had his first bite of rice cereal on Saturday and he didn't seem to mind it too much. He ate it and seemed to enjoy it until about half way through when he started crying. Kyle and I thought it was pretty fun to watch, but boy, was it messy. I was surprised at how well Kayden did with the spoon though. He seemed to have it figured out for the most part. He likes to bite the spoon and not let it go, he's discovered his teeth and how you can bite things to hold onto them. He does the same thing with his pacifier and bottle, it's a real fun game to him. Well, enjoy the pictures of Kayden taking his first bites!
Kyle getting ready to assemble the high chair. Look, those are instructions in his hand, we are off to a good start!
Kyle assembling the high chair, so far so good.
Kayden watching and waiting! And it is assembled! Good job, Kyle!!!
Kayden waiting for his first bite! Well, did I make a big enough mess???

Kayden's Six Month Check Up

Kayden had his six month check up today and he's growing perfectly. He's 28 inches and 16 lbs. The dr. gave us the go ahead to give him solid foods so we'll start this weekend with rice cereal and introduce new foods once a week from there. I'll post pictures of him taking his first bite of "real" food. So, check back often.
Here are some pictures we had taken last weekend. All of them turned out so cute, it was hard to narrow it down to just a few.

Kayden 6 Months!

Kayden's six month birthday was yesterday! I know I say this in almost every post, but he's getting so big, it's crazy. We go in on Thursday for his six month check up and I don't look forward to those at all. I love finding out his weight, heights and discussing his development, but I hate the shots, probably more than Kayden does. It is so hard to know he's going to be crying at the end of the appointment. Luckily it is only for a few minutes, but it still is hard for a parent to witness it. He takes one look at the nurse and starts crying, it's sad. He loves the dr though. He smiles like crazy at her and talks to her, it's fun to see, but as soon as the nurse arrives, it's back to tears. Poor guy and poor nurse. It must be an awful feeling knowing every time this kids sees you he cries! No one wants to make a kid cry.
We've had a good weekend, made some progress around the house. Yesterday we went and got Kayden's pictures taken and then went for a drive. The weather here was so nice that Kyle and I had to take advantage of it and get out there. So, we took a drive and then did some walking around, it was fun. Kayden had a good time also, he really enjoys being outside and looks awfully cool in his shades. He surprisingly doesn't try to remove them. Here are some pictures of Kayden in his shades and some taken on his six month birthday! Enjoy.

Kayden rolled over from his back to stomach!

Kayden just rolled over from his back to his stomach for the first time just a few minutes ago! He's been rolling over from his stomach to back for a couple months now, but hasn't done it the other way around until tonight. I'm very excited! Seeing him develop has been so much fun! I'll keep you posted on what happens next. He has his 6 month check up next week and will let you know how it goes. I dread those appointments, the immunization shots are miserable for both of us!

Off to Work!

Well, today is my first day back at work and I'm not too happy about it. The last six months have gone by fast, too fast as a matter of fact! Well, everyone wish me luck, hopefully I won't cry too much on my way to work.

Kayden's First Trip to CA

We had a great time on our trip to Fullerton, CA. Kyle's Uncle John was getting married so we all went down to help celebrate. Kayden did awesome on the airplane, and trust me, Kyle and I were nervous, we didn't want to be those parents who's child cries the whole way, but turns out we didn't have to worry about anything, he slept pretty much the whole flight. Once we got down to CA Kayden did awesome also. He loved all the attention he was getting. Kyle and I enjoyed ourselves too. Had fun staying up late playing poker with all of the family and had fun listening to all of Aunt Joyce's stories, and I tell ya what, she has some good ones. She is 82 years old (but don't tell anyone! LOL) and has a good time sharing all of her stories from over the years. Overall it was a great trip and I'm sad to have had to leave. Can't wait to visit again.

Another Tooth!

Kayden is getting another tooth, it is his other bottom one and he seems to be dealing with this one coming in a lot better than he did the first one, thankfully! I don't think his top teeth will be making an appearance anytime soon, YAHOO, but I could be wrong, I had no idea his bottom ones were coming! Kayden is getting really close to rolling over from his back to his stomach, I'm watching him right now trying to do it. Once he figures out how to get his shoulder out of the way it will be all over. I'll keep you guys posted. Hope all is going well with everyone!

Kayden Rolled Over!

In the middle of last night Kayden started crying so I went in to check on him and what do you know, he had rolled over. I know I say this in every post, but he really is getting so big and it makes me sad and happy all at the same time. It's good he is developing on track, but I'm sad because he won't be little forever!

Kayden's New Toy!

I got Kayden a new toy today, he seems to be getting a little bored with the few activity toys we already have, so I saw this chair at Babies R Us today and just had to get it. The chair has a tray with different types of toys on it and the tray rotates. He really seems to be enjoying it. I think he likes to be sitting up instead of laying on his back or reclined in his swing or bouncer. Here are some pictures of him playing with it.
