Science Experiment

I realize this morning I forgot to update the blog with our happenings last week, so this post is a day late.

I have a habit of browsing Pinterest daily, and to prevent too much embarrassment I will not disclose how many hours exactly I spend on this addicting site, but just know it's enough.  And it doesn't all go to waste, I have completed many projects and cooked and baked many recipes found on Pinterest.

So, this past week when Kayden was having a moment of boredom I turned to my Kids board on Pinterest and found a fun science experiment we could do together.

I decided on vinegar and baking soda and Kayden loved the reaction it created.  We called Papa over to see and even had Nini pick us up more baking soda since we may have gone through a couple boxes.

See, my time on Pinterest is NOT a waste.

You can tell how excited he got in the above picture.  He was really amazed.

"Mom, can I pour the whole container in?"

Kayden really enjoyed this project and I loved watching him have so much fun.  I hope to do another science experiment with him last this week.

The Beach

Like I said in my previous post, we have had some awesome weather this week and on Friday Kyle got home early from his class and we headed to the beach before grabbing a bite to eat.

We invited Charlie to come and are happy she came with us.  Her and Kayden had a great time playing in the sand and Kyle and I enjoyed watching them play together.

Here are some pictures of our time at the beach.

The weather was perfect for kite flying, unfortunately though, the kite broke.
 Love the wet butt.

We loved being outside and getting some fresh air and watching the kids play in the sand.  It was a great night.

Playing Outside

We have been having awesome weather the last couple days and we have been enjoying every minute of it.  If this is any indication of what our spring is going to look like, then we are going to be in heaven, enjoying so many days outside on soaking up the sunshine and fresh air all while playing and having a good time.

Kayden seems so much happier when he can play outside and burn off some energy and mama is happy when he is happy, so it's a good deal all around!

So, Friday we were outside playing and I captured a few pictures of him.  Just be prepared for some super cute pictures!

Before we went outside, Kayden said, "Wanna play fly swatter?"  Um, sure, buddy.  I quickly learned fly swatter is running around with a big grin on your face and a fly swatter in your hand.  Sounds fun to me.
He swept the walkway.

Planted his Hot Wheel Flag in the flower bed.

Then we played with sidewalk chalk.  Always so much fun.

We had a great time playing outside and enjoying the sunshine, even if it was a tad bit cold.  We are so excited spring is here.

Soccer Practice - Spring

Kayden had his first soccer practice this week and like the Fall season, Kayden loved it.  He had fun playing with all his friends on the team.

There are seven kids on the team and we know five of them.  Nothing like having a good group of friends to make up a soccer team!

The kids couldn't decide on one name, so the coaches, Coach Adam and Coach Kyle (yup, that'd be our Kyle) decided to weld the names together and came up with Fire Sharks!

Here are pictures from his soccer practice last week.

Love this action shot from Kamryn.

It's going to be a great soccer season.

Maple Valley Fire Department

We have a good family friend that is a fire fighter at the Maple Valley Fire Department.  We have been trying to arrange a time for us to go and tour her fire department, but haven't been able to come up with a weekend that works for both of our schedules.  Then last week she contacted Kyle and asked if we would be available on Sunday, and finally, it all worked out....thankfully.

Kayden had fun and loved being there, but was a bit intimidated by the magnitude of everything.  When you stand a whopping 42'' things like fire trucks, ambulances and fire fighter gear is so large and over whelming.  And that is fine, he still enjoyed looking at their wall size map and showing us where we each live and telling Jenny Jones where things were on the map.

Kayden turned down a ride in the firetruck.  Both Kyle and I were disappointed, we wanted to go for that ride in the fire truck!  Maybe when Kayden is a bit older and not so intimidated by the magnitude of all the stuff at the fire station the opportunity will present itself again, and Kayden will jump at the chance.  We can only hope.
